Races, rallies, regattas - dozens of water based events take place each year, creating a superb visual display.

21st June 2010 – Coast With The Most and windsurfing ace Guy Cribb has set his first world record after tackling no fewer than 21 water sports in one day. Cribb, 13 times UK windsurfing champion, took to the waters off Bournemouth and Poole – the self-styled ‘Coast with the Most’ – starting at 6am, finally coming ashore after a gruelling 11 hours. See the story here.

Poole is the setting for Animal Windfest, the South’s biggest free watersports festival. Every September the celebration attracts some of the biggest names in watersports. Open to all, the Festival includes wind-surfing, wake-boarding and kite-surfing displays, a host of family-focused shows and competitions, a Kids’ Zone for younger visitors, all topped off with a massive beach party.

But the two resorts offer far more than just nautical events, there’s also a huge programme of spectacular land and air activities too. Bournemouth Air Festival is the biggest free event of its kind in the UK, while Sandbanks, Poole, is the glamorous setting for the British Beach Polo Championships as well as the Beach Volleyball Festival in July.
